'If I Was A Leaf"

I have been asking myself, "What if I was a leaf?"
What if YOU were a leaf?
What if ALL of US were leaves?

I watch these leaves FALL everyday.
I watch them FROLIC
I watch them PLAY
I watch them TUMBLE
I watch them FLY into the sky.
They look so FREE.
I wonder where they go?

So many leaves.
Red leaves
Green leaves
Golden leaves.
Big leaves
Small leaves
I wonder where they go?
Do you know where they go?

The sandman came to my house last night.
He SPRINKLED star dust, into my sleepy eyes.

Suddenly, I became a TINY golden leaf on a very TALL tree.
The SWIRLING gusting winds, were tossing me TO and FRO!
I told myself ,"I must hold on tite! I must not let go!"
All the other BRAVE leaves were TUMBLING, TUMBLING, TUMBLING.
Down, down, down to the ground the leaves went- then UP , UP, UP into the sky.
The leaves frolicked.
The leaves danced.
The leaves twirled.
The leaves tossed in the wind.
Green leaves.
Red leaves.
Golden leaves.
I wonder where they go?
Should I let go?
Should I let go, and tumble, tumble, tumble?
Is it safe to let go?
How will I know?
I wonder where ALL of the leaves go?
How will I know when it is time for me to FROLIC with the wind?
I asked myself "WHY" "Why must I let go"?
The wind was tugging at me.
What's a Tweedles to do?
What would you do?
I must decide very soon, I told myself.
So with a flying LEAP, I soared HIGH into the sky!
I twirled
I danced
I frolicked
Can you feel it?

And then,,,,,,,,,,,,, mysteriously,,,,, and ALL OF A SUDDEN , I was AWAKE!
This was a dream!
This was only a dream!
I was not a leaf after all!

I was TWEEDLES again!
I can still remember, what it felt like, to be the little GOLDEN leaf.
The little golden leaf blowing in the wind.
It was MAGICAL. It was SPLENDORIOUS!
I felt FREE as a bubble in the sky!
Did you feel it?

I remember how it felt, when the winds swirled and gusted, and lifted me high.
"HIGHER, HIGHER " , I said- 'LIFT ME HIGHER".

Someday, I will SEARCH, and I will find,,,,, where all the leaves go.
Yes,,,,, someday I will find where they go.
Nitey Nite, my friends
love
Tweedles

If I were a leaf I don't where will I be right now, if the strong winds flew me off my stem. But I do also like to be a leaf sometimes, it makes the surroundings green and the cold breeze that it brings, the many cures it can give to humans and dogs too. Ooooh I want to be a leaf.

Tweedles, as always, we loved your post. It made us think about where the leaves go. At our house, some stay on the ground and become part of the earth again. In the spring, they are part of the rass and flowers. After a long winter, they are beautiful again!
We hope yu can come to our backyard one day to see it!

Tweedles, the magical escapade of the leaves is a wonder of autumn, isn't it? That tumbling, tumbling releases a joy that is pent up all the while the leaves are growing up and finally there comes a time when the little leaf lets go and ..... flies! I think you will indeed find where all the leaves go....but remember, they come back in the spring! :) It's an adventure, to be sure!

Tweedles, what an exciting and magical dream that was. I must say though that I am glad you are not a leaf, cause I love you and I don't want you to blow away and not know where you go. That was so fun to read. Thank you my special pal for visiting me in the magic bubble and making me feel better. Just having my Tweedles there to snuggle with made all the difference. I love my Tweedles.

Thunder Dunder loves to chase the leaves everywhere, Phantom listens to them when we walk and always thinks there is a squirrel walking there when they crinkle and rustle. Mom just wishes the big winds would come and blow them all off the lawn:)

Cute post, as always, Tweedles.

Oh Tweeds...what a way you have with words. If I were a leaf, I would most certainly drift to Oregon where I would drop to the ground for a very nice long visit!

I do believe that all the leaves in my yard are stuck to little Mad Mad!

You've reminded us of a children's story; Of a little boy who wanted to give someone the best Christmas present ever! He'd been told that catching a falling leaf was very lucky.
After much thought, his idea was to collect as many falling leaves (before they hit the ground)as he could. In the end he'd collected a whole bag of "LUCK" as the gift to his special friend.

So maybe, just maybe, that is your answer... Leaves become the 'luck' of another living organism.

Lovely, thinking post.

Hi Tweedles! All the leaves have fallen off the trees and are being swept into big piles. I love to walk through the leaf piles and shuffle the leaves this way and that. The leaves are very warm and cozy on my toes, so they must be comforting to the trees.

Now that the trees have no more leaves, they look very cold. The trees give their leaves to the earth where lots of little organisms use them for food. Mother Nature is so smart and she doesn't waste anything. We could all learn from her.

I would love to be a sea shell tumbling into shore during high tide. The next morning someone would spot me on the beach. They would pick me up to admire my beauty. Then throw me back in the water!

Dear TweedleyPug, This here is Howie. Maw's at work so I'm in charge. I like leafs. I like to eat them unless my brother pees on them. So yep, I like leafs. Annie said she wants some stardust for her eyes. I told her anything that would cover her face would help. Could you send her some right away?
Your good pal,

That was fun, for a minute I almost forgot where the leaves do go. They fly into the gutters, the flower beds, they cover the grass.

The leaves go many places, they go into bags to be composted alot around here...some get raked, some get blown even more with leaf blowers, and some get sucked up in the vacuums. But the leaves do good things after they've been collected. They become fertilizers when composted to make rich soil so we can enjoy the colorful flowers.

They provide entertainment to children who run and play and jumped in large piles of them.

Loved the posts, very cute.

Tweedles, you touched my heart, sweetie. Yes, I wonder where the leaves go sometimes but just when I think that I have it figured out new ones pop up on our tree branches and I forget to end my thought☺
