"All The Leaves Are Brown"

All the leaves
are crunchy and brown.
The leaves are sleeping
The sky is gray
and
rain DROPS are falling
EVERYWHERE
but no, its not for long.

My memory RACED backwards, to summer days.
I was worried that the sky would NEVER rain again.
Did you WORRY too?
I thought about all the THIRSTY trees in the forest.
They wanted a drink so bad.
Just a little tricke of water.

And then one day I smelled RAIN
I heard the rain coming!
"Listen," I said, "I hear the rain coming"
Listen to the rain.
The trees SANG
The trees DANCED

And when the rains came
the forest SANG!
They WIGGLED their toes in the mud.
They stretched their roots so deep,
And streched their branches so HIGH, into the sky!
The rain songs made me dance too.

The leaves are brown
and raindrops are falling ,,,
and I heard THAT across this bridge
DEEP in the dark forest
is the perfect place to go make MUD pies,
and wait for the sun to SHINE.
It won't be long.
Tonight, I will dream about making
mud pies in the sun shine.
Nitey nite my friends
love

Ah crunchy leaves - have seen plenty of those in Australia my little friend. Our summer has been hot - there are plenty of other crunchy things around here due to our lack of rain. Hope you have had a good week :)

Kong and I have been very lucky since we came back to Everett. We've have just a bit of rain and 50 degree days. We visit the dog park almost daily, and wish you were here to join us.

We love the rain too! It keeps the moss behind the house all soft and nesty to lay on. But as we're cats, we're not too super excited about mud....

Tweedles;

You are the best tale teller. I really think you could paw a book, appropriately named the same as your blog. I would buy it!

Rain is good, Tweedles, but now the growing things all need sunshine - something we haven't seen too much of for weeks and weeks. We did get a little snow overnight and we hear that even a little snow is good for trees and plants. Mom is hoping for warm weather soon, but we really do love this cold.

Hi Tweedles! All our leaves have returned to nourish the Earth. They have been broken down into tiny pieces by all the little organisms. Mother Earth is feeling quite full from all the goodies.

I can't wait to make mudpies with you. We are going to have such fun and get so muddy. I hope our moms don't mind muddy paw prints all over the house!

I love the smell of rain! We are supposed to get rain tomorrow, Saturday. Normally I don't mind but we are going to Pig Fest. BBQ contest with people from all over the U.S. All kinds of good things to eat, grilled corn on the cob, tater salad, baked beans, ribs, chicken, pulled pork, collard greens, strawberry shortcake. You get the picture. Are you licking your lips yet, drooling?? Sooooo very good if you like BBQ. Do you??

We try to remember that all this freaking %^$#@! snow is actually water-on-hold and will feed all the green things come spring! That helps while we're shoveling!

Tweedles, you are so right! When we worry about things like drought, our earth comes around and gives us rain! It knows exactly what to do, which is why we really need to take good care of it!!

You look sooo cute in those leaves!!

Hello Tweedles! Gosh, it rained here every day last week. I don't like it when it rains too much especially if it is accompanied by the wind. Today I took a drive & everything is turning so beautifully green just from a few days of rain. Rain is good as it makes everything beautiful...except you.....you're always beautiful...sun, rain, snow...it makes no difference! Aunt Diane is sending you & moms BIG hugs & kisses! xoxoxo

Our momma told us she needed to come here to let you know she is OK and on the mend and then she began to read this bloggy post and thought that you were gonna sing the Mama's and Papa's song, California Dreamin'☺. In fact, she is hummin' it right now - ♫all the leave are brown and the sky is gray...♫

Thanks for the happy tune!☺
