I can hear their hearts beating.
Red leaves and golden leaves.
I hear them twirl in the wind,,
and then they fall on me.
Where do they live?
Where do they go?
I can't count them all.
Its so very quiet.
But, I can hear the sounds, of the trees as they
S T R E T C H their toes in the mud.
Can you hear them?
The rain drops are splatting on leaves,,,
and then they drip on my head.
Can you feel the drops drizzle, on your face?
If you sit very quiet,
you will hear the hummm of the wind.
as she whispers,,,,,,,,,
The wind will tickle your ear.
The wind has a heart beat too.
If you listen very quietly, you will hear silence,,,
the silence is the rhythm of the forest's heart beating.
and then they dance and swirl,,,
then they gently- touch the ground,
they close their eyes to sleep- like you and me.
I am listening to the rhythm,
I am feeling the heart beat of my forest,
as she goes to sleep.
as she watches, you and me sleep.
From high up in the sky,,,
Can you hear her heart beat?
Do you hear the hearts beating in the forest?
Nitey nite my friends
love

My inspiration for "listening to the hearts" came from my friend The Blog of Manon Doyle who always listens to her heart. She sent me a beautiful heart that her magic paint brush painted,,when it touched the canvas. Her heart touched mine,,,, and woke my heart up to find words that were sleeping. Thank you Manon

Manons words
"I think the hearts give me this warm and giving feeling. I am all about the hearts I feel like I'm a girl that tries to speak from her heart and painting them does make me feel calm and happy."

Dearest Tweedles----we loved hearing about the hearts today. We love the photos of the beautiful forest. How lucky you are to live around so much green! It sounds like Fall has really arrived at your home---Fall at our home teases us until it gets cold (its warm...probably 90 and sunny here!) I'm going to go peek at Manon's blog :) Thanks for sharing---
Tweedles next time I am in the forest or wood, by myself, I will listen for the heart beats, I'm sure your right they are there.
See Yea George xxx
Such a beautiful poem, Tweedles. The inspiration of your forest is so beautiful. We are going to listen on our walk tonight as we go through the trail to see if we can hear those heart beats too.

If not I promise to take care of them.

Dear Tweedley, what a beautiful story - that is wonderful that Otis' mom sent you a special heart, since she makes hearts so beautifully and is also a poet like you! You are always in our hearts and thoughts our friend from across the miles,

It is amazing how much more we hear in a moment of silence isn't it - the sounds of silence.

Wow, Tweedles, honey! I feel like I'm right there with ya!
Tweedles I wish so many humans could hear the heart beats like you do. Living things do matter and we are not to waste but be protectful of them. We need to listen to the hearts more and realize this.

I've said it before, Tweeds, and I'll say it again. You are a true author in every sense of the word.
I love your poem and I heard the heartbeats from your forest. More than that, you wrote from your heart. Not one word was forced.
Your stories always lighten my own heart as I make your journies with you....xxoo

Tweedles,
Your poem made my heart feel warm and soft. Thank you for always helping me to stop, look and listen for all the beauty in the world. You are a truly special friend. I am going to listen to my forest for the songs it sings.
Tweedles, I love your poem and the beautiful photos. You expressed something that I was thinking about today as I listened to the quaking aspen leaves, and then realized that their music will soon be gone for the winter. The forest is going to sleep but it's heart keeps on beating.
I'm so glad that I visited!
I listened to the birds in the trees and the rustle of leaves on a beautiful fall walk last night.
That was beautiful as always. Your poems are always special to us. We still think you should publish a book Tweedles.
Happy tails to you,
Ernie,Sasha,Chica

hey Tweedles,
What a beautiful poem! I, too, love watching and listening to the leaves! I don't live near a forest but I can tell from your poem that it is pretty awesome! Hearts are Love so you can never go wrong listening to Hearts!
