The Leaf Story

I have been watching the leaves on that  big old tree outside my window,
 for a very long time.
It seems as though it was  not very  long ago-
that they were tiny little buds.
And then  one day they were  pink blossoms,
and then the blossoms grew into leaves.
The color of the leaves was one of  my most favorite greens!
 Soon  the seasons changed,
and another season came- it was fall.
The beautiful greens all changed to golden yellows and oranges,,
ohhhh,, change was coming again!
Slowly at first,
the leaves started to fall..
I began to wonder what it would be like
if perhaps  the leaves would stay forever on the branches
and spread out like a thick blanket and protect the tree from  the cold winter.
Maybe it just might happen this year.!
Could it?

Days came and went...and then the frost came.
The leaves began to fall .
 Everyday more leaves would fall.
I could hear them,, maybe they laughing.

Everyday I would try to count  how many more leaves were still hanging  from the branches.
But there were still too many leaves to count.
  too many,
Some leaves hid behind other leaves...
and some  peeked out.
Last night  the moon was full and  jack frost visited,
 His lips kissed every leaf.
Yes every leaf.
And this morning I looked outside my window at the big tree
with the golden leaves.
The leaves were falling like snow flakes..!
 Very gently.. and softly.
I  watched them...
I  pretended that I  was one of those  golden leaves..
and I thought about  what it would be like to be. ....ready to fall,,,
but yet still trying to hang on tight and not fall., not tumble and not let go.
I must have been day dreaming ,
when all of a sudden i noticed there were only two  golden leaves left........
Suddenly they let go of the branch... holding onto each other....
they flitted and twirled as they floated to the ground,,,
together.. they tumbled together
just as it should be.
nitey nite

What a beautiful story, Tweedles!!! And now you can dream about how beautiful all will be when the cycle starts over in the Spring.

A lot of our trees' branches look like they are glistening as we have some ice here today.

That was special! We think about leaves all the time. Mom used to get sad that they died but we reminded her that it keeps the limbs from breaking when the snow falls. So now it isn't sad and your story makes it very happy!

Dear Tweedles,

The leaves must come down so the tree can sleep through Winter! But isn't it lovely how they dance? I hope you have lots of dreams of dancing like the leaves!

Tweedles, I bet it was pretty to watch the leaves floating. Mommy says that all the leaves come back after Winter. I hope that is true. I really like leaves. I sometimes bring them inside in my mouth for Mommy.

You certainly have a knack for poetic language, Twee! I was imaging the leaves just like you were describing them. There are still quite a few leaves hanging on over here even though we've already had snow. I wonder if they'll stay on the whole winter!

Sid.

You said it so beautifully, Tweedles. Change can be so hard to handle, yet it is "as it should be". What wonderful leaves. They will return next year... and you will be watching.

Good Morning, Tweedles, sweet friend,
I am so happy to see your beautiful face. It lights up my day...
I am glad you are feeling better, and the invisible
pain monster did not visit you again. I hate that nasty monster too.
You are counting the leaves that still hold onto the tree.
Soon, it'll be Winter time, and the tree will be naked...
Yes!! I also love Spring time with trees full of leaves,
and fields filled with flowers. Time really flies!
Thank you so much, Tweedles for visiting my sites,
and saying lovely things about my posts!!
I highly appreciate your true and kind friendship.
The Holiday Season is coming up.
So, have a Merry Christmas & Happy New Year 2016
with your dear mom, family, friends, beloved ones!!
Greetings from Poet Starry & My Cats Babies.

Kilo the Pug and I loved your autumn poem. We like leaves but we like the spring and summer best with grass and buds and flowers. Come and say hi some time. We love pugs.

Remember Tweedles that it's Summer somewhere else in the world, so nothing every goes away, just moves away for a while. They'll be back before you know it.
